You’re just in time...because the New World Order has finally come to hunting. A U.S. District Court in Kentucky has banned a Salisbury, North Carolina man from hunting anywhere in the world for two years. That’s right. I said ANYWHERE in the world.
Rodney Poteat of Salisbury, North Carolina, pleaded guilty to hunting without a license in Kentucky and to transporting his harvested 14-point whitetail deer and a bobcat to his home in North Carolina. Under Kentucky law, he was required to purchase a non-resident hunting license and deer permit prior to hunting. He was also required to report the harvest and to report the transportation of the deer outside of Kentucky.
Some say that making the worldwide hunting ban as part of the punishment is meaningless because it was just part of a plea bargain. Just thrown in to make the penalty ‘appear’ more severe. But, my fellow sportsmen, we are treading in dangerous territory.
Let’s remember that the liberty to hunt by individuals is uniquely American. Historically, hunting in Europe was reserved for the royal family and the ruling elite. The commoner, the serf, the slave to the state had no right to take the King’s deer. And so it has been with most of the world.
So, when our wildlife officials and judges begin to consider the ENTIRE WORLD as their jurisdiction...just as the Anti’s do...we better take notice.
Because, even though the government has no legal jurisdiction to ban an idividual from hunting in other soveign countries....what happens now if Poteat goes dove hunting in Argentina, or mule deer hunting in Mexico...does he come back home to an orange jump suit? Is this the hope and change we want?
